Fresh Fall Recipes: Homemade Unsweetened Applesauce

Recipe By:Ā @athomewithastghikĀ

My kids love applesauce. They love eating it on its own, with pancakes, waffles, or mixed into baked goods. Itā€™s easy to make and a great way to use up any extra apples you might have.

Servings: about 2 cupsĀ

šŸŽ 2 pounds apples, I like to use organic Gala apples

šŸŽ 1/4 cup filtered water

šŸŽ 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

How to Make Homemade Applesauce:Ā

šŸŽĀ Wash, peel, and core the apples.

šŸŽĀ Cut the apples into chunks and place them in a pot.

šŸŽĀ Add the water and lemon juice. Stir and cover it with a lid.

šŸŽĀ Allow it to cook (stirring frequently) over medium-low heat until the apples are soft, about 15-20 minutes.Ā

šŸŽĀ Allow it to cool, place it in a blender and blend until it's pureed.

šŸŽĀ Serve or store the leftovers in an air-tight food-safe container in the refrigerator.

I served it with pancakes and strawberries.Ā
