PLEASE REMEMBER TO WASH DIAPERS BEFORE FIRST USE!
1- Rinse
Wet (urinated) diapers do not need rinsing, unless you do not wash diapers for more than 2 days. Ideally, diapers should be laundered every 1 - 2 days.
Soiled diapers need to be rinsed before being stored or laundered. First shake solid waste off of the diaper as best as possible into the toilet. Rinse diapers with a diaper sprayer or in cold water to prevent stains from setting. When using the Bumkins All-in-One diaper or a fitted diaper with Velcro closures, be sure to secure the Velcro tabs prior to washing to prevent the tabs from snagging other diapers during the wash.
For the All-in-One diaper fold the tabs backwards onto each other and cover with the Velcro Laundering Flap. This action creates a "handle" for extra-ease during rinsing, keeps the diaper open for optimum washing and also prevents the snagging that can occur during washings.
2- Pre-treat
Store rinsed diapers in a covered diaper pail or Bumkins laundry bag. Pre-treating diapers while they are being stored before laundering will prevent most staining or odor problems, however it is not necessary.
Odors associated with storing diapers can also be prevented by inlcuding a rag saturated with a few drops of tea tree oil in with dirty diapers in the pail or laundry bag. Also, spraying or washing out the diaper pail frequently with a baking soda and water solution will prevent the ammonia build up that causes unpleasant odors. Bumkins Laundry Bags should be washed along with the load of dirty diapers, a step that helps ensure they remain odor free.
3- Wash
Wash diapers in warm water with your choice of laundry detergent. Diapers should only be treated with chlorine-free bleach. Pre-treating is recommended for only the diapers that require special attention, rather than adding bleach to an entire load. Chlorine bleach causes rapid deterioration of all fabrics, the use of it will void all guarantees on any Bumkins products.
An extra rinse may be necessary if you have very hard water or tend to use more than the recommended amount of detergent per load. It is important that all detergent is fully rinsed from the diapers, as detergent buildup can negativley affect diapers' performance and can irritate baby's skin.
4 - Dry
Tumble or hang the diapers to dry, plan for a longer drying time than other clothing. Turn All-in-One diapers inside out, flipping the inner panel to the other side. If they are not completely dry after one cycle in the dryer, hang or air them to dry. Excessive heat from the dryer will wear the diapers out more quickly. Do not use fabric softener (liquid or sheets) as they work by “coating” the fabric. This will decrease the absorbency of the diapers and could cause skin irritation.

1- Wash
You can hand-wash the Diaper Cover under warm running water, lathering it with detergent or anti-bacterial hand soap. You can also machine wash the cover on a gentle cycle making sure the Velcro tabs are closed.
2- Dry
Bumkins Diaper Covers dry very quickly. Hanging the Covers to dry is not only fast, but the best way to preserve the integrity of the components. They can withstand being tossed in the dryer if that occurs, but the heat from the dryer causes the fabric to wrinkle.
